Margin is the Republican candidate's share minus the Democrat's, of all votes cast in the race. "Shift" compares a county with the previous general election for the same office; both U.S. Senate seats form one series. Governor and lieutenant governor run as a ticket and are listed under the governor; presidential tickets under the presidential candidate. Iowa's judicial retention votes and constitutional amendments are also on the ballot but aren't shown. Results: the Iowa Secretary of State's official results (2016–2022: the state's precinct results files and canvass summaries, which the state has taken down, as saved by the Internet Archive; 2024: the state's final results export); in the few counties whose files weren't saved (2018 Clinton and Decatur, 2020 Scott, 2022 Black Hawk) county totals come from the canvass summary and, for governor, the MIT Election Data + Science Lab's precinct returns. Every contest's totals match the official canvass. Write-in votes are combined. 2026 results come from CivicAPI, which collects county and state reports, and are unofficial until certified. Turnout isn't included yet.

Iowa House results: the Iowa Secretary of State's official results (2016–2022: the state's precinct results files and canvass summaries, which the state has taken down, as saved by the Internet Archive; 2024: the state's final results export); each year's seat totals match the official results (Republicans won 59, 54, 59, 64 and 67 seats from 2016 to 2024). All 100 seats are up every two years. Districts follow the map in force each year: the 2011 plan (2016–2020) and the 2021 plan (2022–2026). A district number can cover different ground in different years. Unopposed winners appear with their votes. In 2024 District 63, the canvass doesn't count votes for Kayla Koether, who withdrew. Maps: U.S. Census Bureau cartographic boundary files. The chamber count uses election results only; special elections and party switches between general elections aren't included. 2026 results come from CivicAPI and are unofficial until certified.

Iowa Senate results: the Iowa Secretary of State's official results (2016–2022: the state's precinct results files and canvass summaries, which the state has taken down, as saved by the Internet Archive; 2024: the state's final results export). Senators serve four-year terms: odd-numbered districts are elected in midterm years (2018, 2022, 2026) and even-numbered ones in presidential years (2016, 2020, 2024). In 2022, after redistricting, nine even-numbered districts were also elected, for two-year terms. The chamber makeup adds senators not up that year, carried from their last general election; for 2016 the odd-numbered seats come from the 2014 winners (District 1's David Johnson, elected as a Republican, is counted as an independent after he left the party in 2016), and for 2022 the 16 even-numbered seats not up come from the senators then serving. Special elections, appointments and party switches between general elections aren't otherwise included. Districts: the 2011 plan (2016–2020) and the 2021 plan (2022–2026). Maps: U.S. Census Bureau cartographic boundary files. 2026 results come from CivicAPI and are unofficial until certified.
